The visitors of Delphi have the opportunity to visit a great and original winery in Polydroso, on the North-East side of mount Parnassus at a distance of 30 miles.Stunning natural beauty aside, this mount Parnassus winery produces some very interesting wines. Full-bodied Pinots and Cabernets, fruity Merlots and Mavroudis, buttery Chardonnays and delicats Malagousia are the varieties that pepper the fertile soils.
The history of the estate dates back to the year 1998, when the first vineyards were planted. In 2002 the first wines were vinified, Erohos red and Erohos white.
Today the vineyards have reached the 290 acres, which is enough to meet the demand for wine that comes exclusively from proprietary vineyards. Due to the ideal pedoclimatic conditions prevailing in the region, the cultivation of both indigenous and international grape varieties is permitted, thus providing excellent results.
The property currently produces 9 different types of wine, placing a special emphasis on the cultivation of Greek forgotten varieties, as well as on the production of high quality wines.
Back in 2009 a pioneering unit with the view to promoting wine tourism was created in Polydroso. It’ still operated by the members of the Argyriou family and enables holidaymakers both to try the variety of wines of the estate in the specially designed place (cellar) but also to reside in Polydroso, enjoying at the same time the local cuisine, as well as the various activities that the area has to offer.
The winery participate to the «Open Cellar Doors», an event organized collectively by Greek Wine Producers Associations and his cellar doors will be open to visitors for tasting, competitions with great prizes, local delicacies, music and other surprises.
